Six Month Checkup

30Jun08

It’s been six months since I started this project, and I have completed fifteen items. I’ve also watched a lot of things in my life change. This is good. Change - I will admit it, even though I hate to - is good. Which is why I’ve changed three of the items on my list so far to things that apply better, six months down the line. Things like paying off debt and saving money. Increasing the amount of biographies I’ll be reading before the challenge ends. There are still others I need to think about. And I did a great job of mucking up the categories on this blog, mainly because as I cut and pasted old and new items, all of the original numbers shifted. Oops.

I’ve also been lax about jotting down what I’m watching and listening to. Scout’s honor that I’ve been keeping up with albums and movies.

In any case, this project is entirely worthwhile and I will spend some time in July re-evaluating some of the things I put on the list just so I’d have 101 items. There are plenty of worthwhile tasks to put in the place of something as silly as “get a manicure”.

May To-Do’s

30Apr08

It’s been awhile. April was a slow (yet steady) month, as I checked off one thing on the list and inched my way toward others with another tickmark.

I have decided that May is the month I try for three tasks:

12. No chocolate for one month. Tried this in March, and had a Cadbury Creme Egg in my mouth before I realized I wasn’t supposed to. Oops!

18. Take a multivitamin and at least two calcium pills every day for a month. I tried this in April, but I missed a day somewhere and it all went to hell. I really should use Red to keep track.

64. Take a photograph every day for a month. I really love my Kodak, but it’s not a point-and-shoot (not yet a DSLR), so it’s a pain to carry around every day. I bought a pocket-sized Fujifilm Z20 the other day, and it’s small enough to be an every day camera. This should make photo taking way easier.

So, here I go, ambitious in the month of May. Wish me luck!

Asides

» I failed the chocolate thing again. In my defense, the Jersey Shore and fudge means I had to. Since May has 31 days, I gave myself a “free day” to slip up. So today, I should be able to cross two more things off the list. # 0

» As I was updating my list with this week’s “accomplishments” (gee, Diz, you watched a movie and listened to a CD), I realized that I forgot to take my vitamins last night… At least, I’m pretty sure I forgot to take them. Dammit. I should be using “Red” (let’s not go there) and documenting more carefully! # 0
