Ladies and gentleman, I paid off the last of my credit card balance on Friday. And then they hit me with $8.23 in interest. So I paid that Saturday. Except they won’t accept my payment for it until Monday.

So, March 17th, 2008, is the official day I get out of credit card debt.

March 17th? That is the day I started dating my first boyfriend when I was eighteen. I have this grossly accurate memory when it comes to most dates, which is why I remember the day a six-month relationship started.

You know what? I don’t want to count credit card debt be gone day on the same day as that. So I’m going back to my original payoff date, Friday, the 14th. Take that, Chase.

(Chase is my credit card company. Not my ex-boyfriend.)
