Ponderings

You got it (the white stuff)

I’ve been up since 5:30 this morning, and it’s a snow day. Which sucks, because I knew I wasn’t going to get out of bed, dig my car out, and attempt to maneuver the roads to get to work. I just had to wait until they officially called work off for the day at 6am.

I hate the snow. I would rather deal with brutal cold for the whole of the season than have to shovel. So far, we really have been lucky. I’ve broken out the shovel maybe twice this winter (one of those times being last week), and it never accumulates to much.

But it totally pisses me off that I’ll be out there digging later on. I would rather pay someone to dig me out than do it myself. And I have. Once, a few years ago, a man trudged down our street offering to get people out of their spots for twenty bucks. He thought he was going to get off easy by tossing just enough snow away from my front wheel for me to get out. Um, yeah. That? Is not going to work, buddy. I wasn’t planning on going anywhere, and your “help” sure as hell wasn’t going to make it easy for me to pull back in later if I was. So I made him dig me out, like we agreed on. Bastard.

It wasn’t always like this. When I was a kid, I loved the snow. All the fun, none of the work. I would stay out there as long as I could get away with - layers of clothes, soaked, snowmen built, snowball fights had. Childhood is so wasted on the young. I don’t know that I would even enjoy a snowball fight these days. I’d fall on my ass trying to run away.

So, I thought maybe I’d clean house today, but we shall see. I’ve just spent three hours tweaking yet another new theme on this blog. I could’ve been sleeping. Snow day, my ass!

Why was the snow so magical when we were kids? I remember our old house we lived at, our driveway was gravel. holy cow, it’s not easy to shovel snow on gravel! totally unreal. It’s one of those things I never wanna worry about when we get our own house.

But I totally remember as a kid having so much fun in the snow. Amazing how things change. :D

Now, I just want it to snow, but I don’t want to do anything about it. LOL

I couldn’t be HAPPIER!!!!!! I love this shit. I went driving. I walked around and took pictures. I watched as Miko pounced through hills of white fluff taller than him. I am in my Alaskan-wannabe glory!!!!
I’d make snow angels and go sledding if I wouldn’t look like such a dumbass doing it by myself!! :)
