I spent the weekend logged off. No internet. I didn’t even open the lid of my laptop. I’m not saying I wasn’t going through withdrawals or anything, but it could have been harder, considering I spend a good portion of my free time within a lap’s distance from my computer.
I logged on yesterday morning and quickly browsed my emails. I noticed that Bloglines finally updated my blog feed (after a month). And… I missed nothing.
Yes, folks - it’s possible to log off and go live your life and not miss one little thing. If you’re like me, no one will even notice you were gone. I mean, it was only two days. But I wonder how long it would take before you started sending out the search dogs. Five days? Ten? Thirty?
On my birthday last week, I magically appeared to fix my webcam, and so I am starting to post videoblogs again. There’s a link over there in the sidebar somewhere. Shouldn’t be too hard to find if you take the time to look.
Note to self: Stop going to sleep after taking a shower. You wake up with your sticking up in 80 directions and you have no skills when it comes to hair styling. So now you will go into work with your hair sticking in 80 directions. Maybe they will think it’s “edgy”.
One of my domains is expiring next month. I don’t know that I will bother renewing it. Sometimes I think I should just save the money and use LiveJournal. Or WordPress.com. Or, like, Vox or something. It’s not as though I have a huge readership that requires me to have my own domain these days, right? At all?
It’s cold. I don’t want to leave the house. Hibernating animals have it totally right.

Thanks for the comment about “Flight of the Conchords.” I got completely hooked and watched four eps in a row. That’s way cool that you saw them back in the day.
Going to see The Deb in Atlantic City?
Do you need a website? That’s such a loaded question. I guess it depends what you want to do with it.
If you’re happy using all the free websites around and putting a bit of yourself here and there, and for no money, then that’s fine.
If you would like to keep everything in one place, have a neat design for it all, and have the ability to control your webspace yourself, then this is better.
As for cost, domain names are cheap, hosting the site may not be, depending on how much traffic you eat up.
Having said that, running your own site means you are responsible for all of it, remembering to renew the domain name and webspace every year, dealing with the design, making sure the site doesn’t mess up for whatever reason.
Guess it boils down to how much hassle you want or are prepared to put up with.
My hair sticks up everywhere. I have zero talent when it comes to styling my hair. I can put it into a fashionalbe mom pony tail, to go with my mom wear. Every time I go out I have something on my clothes or in my hair. I really need a full length mirror!
Which domain is up? Is it this one? I like this site.
@Jeremy - Those New Zealanders are like crack. Not sure about Deb yet. The show was great when I saw it in October, but not sure I wanna travel the 3 hours to see it again.
@Whome - I’ve had my own website(s) for years now. I know what’s involved. I’m just trying to make my life a little less hassled. ;)
@jen - Not only do I not style my hair, I suffer from static hell. Must carry dryer sheet *makes note*. I don’t own a full-length mirror, either.
This domain is good for awhile. It’s songobsessed.com that dies next month.
