My job is very seasonal. It focuses on one thing - the holidays. Now that we are so close to Christmas, things are dying down again for another year, and I am looking forward to the peace and quiet.
But the mad dash through October and November makes me realize that I am wishing away the days. On Monday, I wish it was Friday. At Thanksgiving, I wish it was New Year’s. In winter, I wish it was spring.
When I stop for a second and reflect on the days I’ve wished away, I can appreciate that they aren’t all bad. While I am ready for 2007 to end, there’s a lot I did, a lot I bought, a lot I saw. I may have wished a lot of the year away, but I think I can say for the first time in a few years, I didn’t waste as much of it away.
More reflecting on the year closer to the end of December. I’m going to try to stop wishing away the rest of the month, but I make no promises.
